The #1 Cold Call Objection To Master

There is 1 objection that you will hear more often than any other.

I’m Busy.

It’s the first one you’ll hear at the beginning of the call and also the most common.

It can manifest itself in a bunch of different ways.

“Im in a meeting”
“Sorry I can’t talk right now”
“Can you call me back?”
“Now’s not a good time”

There is one response we recommend:

"I know I caught you cold, can I level with you briefly/share 20 seconds what we do to see if it even makes to follow up/call back in the first place? "

Let’s break down why this works.

  1. Leads with empathy:
You acknowledge you are potentially interrupting them. Goes a long way

  2. Permission based ask:
We are huge fans of asking permission to do something. It puts the prospect in control.

  3. Logic:
Sharing what you do before committing to follow-up just makes sense - and prospects know it. Nobody wants another irrelevant email. Framing it as "only if it makes sense" removes pressure and gets buy-in

After the response it usually goes one of two ways.

If Yes > Brief elevator pitch followed by current state / open ended question.

If No > No worries. Some people are actually busy. Mark follow up as you know they pickup now and carry on.

The reason this is the #1 objection to master is because you’ll hear it the most often and it happens early in the call.

The great thing about this response is that you can actually use it for any brush off at the beginning of the call, not just I’m busy.

Happy calling and check out a live call version of the objection handle below!
