How to Send a Gift That Books Meetings

There are many ways to book meetings but sending a generic thoughtless gift is not one of them.
The most common form of gifting we see:
The Amazon gift card…
We don’t have to tell you that this is not a very effective way to drive real revenue.
Here at the SDR Newsletter we have experimented with many forms of gifting and a few stand out.
If you want to actually book meetings and get responses, here are a few creative ideas:
1. A gift that aligns with the prospects interests. $50-$500
You will be required to actually research the prospect to figure out what they have as hobby’s / interests.
The best example we’ve seen? A prospect recently got a sailing license. The rep sent a custom desk barometer with their name engraved on it. $75. Booked a meeting with a C level exec.
The great thing about this one is it doesn’t have to be expensive. It is the thought that counts. Think outside of the box.
2. A bottle of Champagne - $100
The most popular version of this was Sam Blond @ Brex famously sent 200 bottles to new startups. 75% booking rate with a handwritten note. Not everyone drinks alcohol but this can and does work time and time again. Best if partnered with some trigger like fundraising or a promotion.
3. Empty Donut box - $25
Popularized by Dale Dupree - This strategy does require an in person approach. You get an empty donut box and write something along the lines of “I got hungry waiting for your reply so ate the donuts” There is a gift card as well as your contact info written inside. Best to follow up with an email with subject line “Donut Box”
This is so unique the prospect responds and responds often.
4. Food - $50-$100
Send a pizza to the office with a note. Send cookies with a note. Send a box of snacks to the office. Everyone loves food and it’s an easy and low cost way to make a positive impression. Of course couple with a note!
5. Local Steakhouse / Nice Restaurant gift card $100-$200
If you receive a gift card for a steak dinner you aren’t going to ignore it. The prospect may take their significant other out with it or a friend and they will be asked “Whats the occasion?” Or “Who gave this to you”
You will come up in conversation and its thoughtful enough to warrant a reply. Who doesn’t like steak??
These should give you some nice ideas to get rolling with a real gifting strategy and start getting creative !
